The Roads & Rivers Bike Race is a premier Hill Country cycling experience set along the legendary curves of River Road, with the Guadalupe River as your constant companion. This fast, 22-mile out-and-back course is built for strong riders looking to race hard, chase personal bests, and soak in some of the most scenic pavement in Central Texas—all while crossing the river eight times along the way.

Starting and finishing at Rio Guadalupe Resort, the race launches early for optimal safety and smooth racing conditions, with chip timing and seeded heats to keep the competition clean and flowing. When the ride is over, the experience is just getting started. Riders, families, and spectators are invited to stay for a full day of food trucks, music, river access, and the Guadalupe Games—transforming race day into a true fitness and community celebration.

Roads & Rivers Bike Race

The Roads & Rivers Bike Race is a fast, scenic 22-mile out-and-back along River Road, starting and finishing at Rio Guadalupe Resort. Designed for competitive cyclists and strong riders, this course delivers rolling river roads, nonstop scenic views, and an unforgettable experience as riders cross the Guadalupe River eight times along the route.

IMPORTANT START TIME:

This race begins early to avoid traffic and provide the safest, cleanest racing conditions possible.

WHEELS DOWN AT 7:00 AM SHARP for Heat #1

The race is chip-timed, with riders seeded into heats based on average miles per hour. Within each heat, riders will be spaced out, with a set number of riders starting every 10 seconds, ensuring proper separation and smooth race flow.

SAFETY

For rider safety and course quality, the event is capped at 300 riders total. Once the cap is reached, registration will close.

The course is open to traffic but fully police-protected. Law enforcement will be stationed at all road crossings and major traffic areas, with additional roaming officers throughout the route. With the early start time and Police Protection there will be very limited traffic.

A fully supported aid station will be available at the halfway turnaround, offering bathrooms, snacks, and drinks. Additionally, mobile bike mechanics will be on course to assist riders with any mechanical issues during the race.

The Sub-60 Club is an elite recognition reserved for riders who complete the Roads & Rivers Bike Race course in under 60 minutes.

Riders who break the hour will receive special on-site recognition and a dedicated Sub-60 Club award, honoring a truly elite performance on this fast, scenic out-and-back course.

Spectators

Spectator passes provide full access to Rio Guadalupe Resort during both the Roads & Rivers Bike Race and the Guadalupe Games, including:

• Water access along the Guadalupe River

• Kid-friendly activities

• Food trucks

• Music and entertainment

After the Race

After crossing the finish line, the day continues with food trucks, music, and an all-day post-race party at Rio Guadalupe Resort.

We will also be hosting the Guadalupe Games, a fitness competition running throughout the day. In addition, mini floating fitness competitions will take place throughout the venue, giving everyone plenty to watch and enjoy.

With private river frontage, kayak and tube rentals, and activities for all ages, Roads & Rivers is a full-day celebration of fitness, competition, and community.

Cop Locations

1 Cop at the entrance of Rio Guadalupe Resort where they will be starting and finishing race.

1 cop at River Road & Sattler Rd. After last bike crosses they will become roamer between 4th and 2nd bridge crossing

1 cop at River Road & Guadalupe Street. they will become roamer between 2nd crossing and River Road Ice House

2 Cops at River Road Ice House. Have 1 at turn around and other at bottom of hill by Hueco Springs. 

Summary of entire weekend

Experience an unforgettable Fitness Weekend at the scenic Rio Guadalupe Resort, where participants can choose to stay for the full weekend in a cozy cabin, bring their own tent or RV, or simply arrive on Saturday to take part in that day’s events.

Friday – Welcome & Kickoff

The weekend opens with early packet pickup for all athletes, along with athlete Q&A sessions to review event details and logistics. Guests can enjoy a relaxed evening featuring a food truck, music, and opportunities to connect with other participants before race day.

Saturday – Race Day & Main Events

Saturday begins at dawn with the Roads & Rivers Bike Race, a chip-timed 22-mile out-and-back along the Guadalupe River. After finishing, athletes can refuel with post-race breakfast and drinks, followed by an awards ceremony recognizing overall and age-category winners.

The next challenge is the Guadalupe Games, a hybrid fitness workout designed to test both strength and endurance. (Workout is TBD.) Like the bike race, it will conclude with overall and age-group awards.

Throughout the day, participants and families can enjoy the vendor village, plus kids’ activities such as a bounce house and face painting.

As evening approaches, the fun continues with cornhole tournaments, a variety of backyard games, food trucks, and live music, creating the perfect atmosphere to celebrate the full day of competition and community.

Sunday – Sunrise & Sendoff

The weekend concludes with a calming morning yoga session, giving guests a moment of recovery and reflection before checkout.
